Hello Richard: This is in response to your message about George Crenshaw Camp and Julia Camp. I am the great-great granddaughter of Julia Ann Virginia Gabbert Camp. Most of your information is accurate except for some of the information about her husband, George Crenshaw Camp. He did not die in Mississippi. Here is what I know--a manuscript of the minutes of the Old Florence Church in Drew County, AR show that George was received in the membership by a transfer of letter on March 8, 1851. The minutes further record that he died on July of 1868 in Drew County. He is buried in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Drew County. Oddly, Julia is buried in the Union Ridge Cemetery in Drew County next to their son William. Julia was not a member of the Old Florence Church (cumberland presbyterian). The minutes show that Melinda, their daughter was a member of Old Florence, but later dropped her membership to join with the "Campbellites", forerunners to the modern day Church of Christ. It is interesting to note that the Monticello, AR Church of Christ is located on Gabbert St., named in honor of Julia's family. The family believes that Julia was already a "Campbellite".The 1870 Federal Census of Drew County, AR, Veasey Township shows Julia as head of the household, 43 years old, a schoolteacher, and the mother of six. George had also been a schoolteacher. Julia was also a midwife who delivered babies well into her 70's. She also practiced the healing arts with herbal remedies. George was 20 years older than Julia.Judy
