My great grandfather, John Clark Tomlin, was censused in Montgomery County, Alabama in 1880. It shows he and hs mother were born in Georgia and his father in North Carolina.

My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, was born in 1881. John Clark Tomlin died when Roy Laitten Tomlin was a small boy.
My great grandmother, Roxie Catherine Jackson Tomlin, remarried in 1888 in Macon County, Texas to a James R. Conner. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Texas.

My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, died from burns in an oil refinery explosion in 1920 and my father was only 13 at the time. They had come to Beaumont, Texas as a result of the Spindletop oil boom.

On my grandfather's death certificate my grandmother stated his father, John Clark Tomlin, was born in Minton, Georgia.

I have been at a loss for 25 years trying to locate the family of John Clark Tomlin.
Apparently from the census record of 1880 he was born about 1857.
