My great grandfather, John Clark Tomlin, was censused in 1880 in Montgomery County, Alabama. It shows that he was born in Georgia and was 22 or 23 at the time. His father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Georgia.

He married Roxie Catherine Jackson in 1879 in Montgomery County,Alabama. There was one son, my grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, born June 29, 1881 in Alabama. John Clark Tomlin died when Roy Laitten Tomlin was very young.

My great grandmother remarried James R. Conner in Macon County, Alabama in 1888.

My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, died April 9, 1920 from burns as a result of an oil refinery explosion in Beaumont, Texas. His death certificate shows his father was born in Minton, Georgia.

I am at a dead end to find ancestors of John Clark Tomlin. Oral family history states he had a brother named Henry.
