Hi Scott, Laura Narcissa(or Narcissus) Lewis was the first child my gggrandfather, Zachariah Lewis and his second wife Mary Jane Moncrief had together. Bose Lewis is one of Laura's younger brothers and my ggrandfather through his son John Thomas Lewis. John T's youngest child of 9 Ruth was my mom.

I have been researching this leg of my Lewis family for some years now and have a lot of information on Laura's grandfather and grandmother Jonathan and Nancy Lewis. Laura's father Zachariah had 3 wives and 21 children. The last of which came when he was at the age of 74.

There are 4 family names that are closely associated with this leg of the Lewis clan that goes back 150 - 175 years. They are Causey, Hortman, Spillers, and Moncrief. Jonathan Lewis and his wife Nancy Albright Lewis were one of the earliest original Lewis' in Crawford County and first show up in Jones County in 1820. In 1830, 1840, and 1850 they were in Crawford County in Knoxville. I have identified 6 of 10 of their children and am still searching. I am also posting Zachariah Lewis's marriages and children for your information and enjoyment. I almost forgot, Zachariah never moved away from the area. He died in 1897 and is supposedly buried in Providence Cemetary in Roberta. Please let me know if any of this helps. Old Zachariah sure was a prolific man.

LEWIS, Zachariah born 1820, died June, 1897
*Married 1st NELSON, Torvesa(Teressa) 05-11-1838, d. abt. 1859 A-2
Tabitha Lewis age 23, b. abt. 1837 GA noted in the 1860 Houston Co. Census may be a cousin living in Zachariah’s household after the death of Torvesa so it is likely that Houston County holds Lewis relatives of Jonathans around that time.
