Gayle,

In the book "Wilkinson County, GA Historical Collections" by Joseph T. Maddox, it says:

1850 census: Benjamin F. Pate, b. 1848, wife Delaney Taylor, b. 1845 (daughter of John and Amsey McMurrien Taylor) Children: Jarmes R. b. 1873, moved to Texas; Benjamin F., Jr. b. 1875 married Emma McCullar and Leila Mercer; Annie L., b. 1877 married John B. Lavender; Amsey b. 1879 married a King. Born after 1880: Maggie married Will Mercer; Lizzie married Charlie Ussery; Catherine married Ivey Lord; Thelma married Sidney Lord; Viola married a Boone and shown was Mrs. Carlton Lord.

It also says in 1850 a John Pate b. 1831 with wife Ann b. 1833 and one son, Robert A. b. 1849.

Hope this helps! Karen
