Wilkinson Co., Ga. Children are listed and the following information given.
"Larkin was given legal guardianship of his brother-in-law, John E. Etheredge, in December of 1840 with a $500 bond. At the Wilkinson County Sheriff's sale on January 6, 1857, 390 acres of land owned by Larkin McConnell, was levied to Isaac Newell. The Mc Connell's appear again in the court records of Wilkinson County, Book K, page 485...."I give grant and bequeath to the said Celia Ann Brewer, my life estate in the Dawes to be set apart to me out of the estate of my husband Larkin McConnell...."
Larkin McConnell died on July 28, 1887 in Wilkinson County. His wife, Milly Etheredge McConnell died after 1888 also in Wilkinson County. They are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wilkinson County, Ga. Source: Contributed by Earl S. Chambers, Augusta, Ga. 30906

We know this is in error since the Wilkinson County Georgia - Early Marriages shows Miles R. Shepherd married to Millie McComell April 6, 1851. Also her obituary shows a wrong birthdate for her.

Have obituary for Gracie Pauline. She stated she was the second wife of Reverend Benjamin Harvey and that they had five children together. She stated he had one son and one daughter by his first wife. Her parents were stated as being " Riley Shepherd and Camilla McDonald" in her obituary. We have proven that her mother was not Camilla McDonald, but Millie McConnell (from death certificate). Either the person who wrote the obituary made the mistake, or Gracie Pauline's children did. Her death certificate does show her father as Riley Shepherd and her mother as Millie McConnell. The 1880 and 1900 Laurens County census show Gracie being born in 1872 and not 1862 as was stated in her obituary. Your compiler was contacted by one of Gracie's relatives who confirmed that his family bible also showed her being born in 1872.

On the 1880 census Thomas Shepherd/Shepard and his wife Mary(sister of Benjamin Harvey) and Benjamin Harvey were living near each other.
Proofs: Death Certificates. Have obituary of Gracey Pauline Shepherd Harvey. Her Obit states she was the second wife of Reverend Benjamin, and that he had a son and daughter by his first wife. The first wife was Mary Patasol who he married Feb. 14, 1869 in Pulaski Co., Ga. Gracey Pauline's obituary gives her birthdate as being 1862 but her parents family bible listed her birth in 1872. Censuses confirm date of 1872 Death Certificate for Benjamin Harvey shows his parents to be Curtis Harvey and Sarah Jane Forrest. Have two marriage records, cemetery records, and 1880 census.

Rev. B. F. Harvey Buried At Montrose
Funeral services for Rev. B. F. Harvey, 82, were held at Montrose late Tuesday, following his death. The aged minister had lived in this county for many years and was known and loved far and wide.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Harvey, one daughter, Mrs. Dolly Coleman of Dudley, five sons, D. C. Harvey, Dublin, Route 5; Charley Harvey Hollywood, Calif.; Joe Harvey, Sacremento, Calif, and Spencer Harvey of Montrose, and Albert harvey, Winters, Calif.
Funeral services were performed by Rev. Mr. Glohorn.
Note: His daughter Cynthia, by first wife, evidently died before 1931.

The Ancient History Of the Distinguished Surname WATSON:
This name is one of the most notable Anglo/Saxton surnames, and its historical trail has emerged from the mists of time to become an influential surname of the middle ages and of the present day. In an in-depth research of such ancient manuscripts as the Domesday Book compiled in 1086 A.D. by Duke William of Normandy, the Ragman Rolls (1291-1296) collected by King Edward 1st of England, the Curia Regis Rolls, The Pipe Rolls, the Hearth Rolls, parish registers, baptismals, tax records and other ancient documents, researchers found the first record of the name Watson in the county of Rutland, where they were Lords of the Manor of Rockingham, from ancient times.
Although the name Watson occurred in many manuscripts, from time to time the surname was also spelled Watson, Wattson, Walterson, MacWattie and Watt. These changes of spelling frequently occured even between father and son. There is one record, a father and eight sons. In the graveyard where they are buried, all nine have different spellings of their surnames.
The name Watson is one of the most notable of the ancient Anglo/Sexon race. This founding race of England, a fair skinned people led by the Saxon Genral/Commanders Hengist and Horsa, settled in Kent from about the year 400 A.D. The Angles, on the other hand, occupied the eastern coast.
The Anglo/Saxon five-century domination of English society was an uncertain time, and the nation divided into five separate kingdoms, a high king being elected as supreme ruler.
By 1066, King Harold came to the throne of England which was enjoying reasonable peace and prosperity. However, the Norman invasion from France and their victory at the Battle of Hastings, found many of the vanquished Saxon land owners forfeiting their land to Duke William and his invading nobles. They became oppressed under Norman rule, and some moved northward to the midlands, Lancashire and Yorkshire, even into Scotland.
The family name Watson emerged as a notable English family name in the county of Rutland where they erected Rockingham Castle. In England, they branched to Yorkshire at Pickering, to Kidderminster in Worcestershire, into Shropshire, into Cumberland. By the 1392 they had moved north into Scotland where John Watson held lands in Edinburgshire. By 1450 they held the lands of Applegate in Arbroath. They also moved north to Fifeshire and the name proliferated in the lowlands of Scotland. Meanwhile in England they were elevated to the Barons Rockingham, the Earls of Rockingham, and the Barons Sondes. In Scotland, the Watsons were represented by Sir Donald Watson in 1493, and the name was frequently abbreviated to Watt. Meanwhile the New World beckoned and migration continued, some vountarily from Ireland, but mostly directed from England or Scotland, their home territories. Some clans and families even moved to the European continent.
Kinsmen of the family name Watson were amongst the many who sailed aboard the armada of small sailing ships known as the "White Sails" which plied the stormy Atlantic. These overcrowded ships were pestilence ridden, sometimes 30% to 40% of the passenger list never reaching their destination, their numbers reduced by sickness or the elements.
Principal amongst the settlers which could be considered a kinsman of surname Watson or a variable spelling that family name was John Watson who settled in Virginia in 1620, the same year as the "Mayflower". Abraham, Alice, Elizabeth, Francis, Joe, Margaret and William Watson, all settled in Virginia in 1635. George Watson settled in Georgia in 1775 with his wife and four children.
The trek from the port of entry was also arduous and many joined the wagon trains to the prairies or to the west coast. During the American War of Independence, many loyalists made their way north into Canada about 1790 and became known as he United Empire Loyalists.
