Debra,

I, too, am a Holtzclaw descendant and I think that your Sarah may be the daughter of Daniel and Martha ___ Holtzclaw. I don't know Martha's maiden name, but I think Daniel was born in 1815, the son of Hosea and Sarah Bailey, the daugther of John Bailey. Hosea Holtzclaw is named in John Bailey's will of 1817 per BC Holtzclaw, the author several books relating to the ancestry of the Holtzclaw family.

I think this is how your line would go:

Sarah Holtzclaw b. 1847
dau of Daniel Holtzclaw b 1815
m. Martha _________ b 1829
son of Hosea Holtzclaw b ca1778 d 1817-1819 Wilkes Co GA
m. Sarah Bailey
son of Benjamin Holtzclaw b ca 1745 d 1826 Lincoln Co KY
m. Catherine Melinda Russell b. 1757 d ca 1833
son of Johann John Holtzclaw b 1709 Oberfischbach,
Germany d. 1752 Fauquier Co VA
m. Catherine Russell Thomas (widow) b ? d aft 1763
son of Hans Jacob Holzklau b 1683 Trupbach, Germany
d. 1760 German Town, Fauquier Co., VA
m. Anna Margreth Otterbach b 1685 Trupbach, Germany
d. bef. 1729 German Town, Fauquier Co., VA

Do you know the names of the siblings of your Sarah? According to BC, she had the following sisters and brother:
Lucinda b 1844
James C. b 1845
Huldah A. b 1850

I would be more than happy to share the information that I have regarding the Holtzclaw and Otterbach families. I think that there might also be a tie to the Baileys, but this one will take more work!!!

My personal email address is: RockCatt@aol.com and I look forward to hearing from you!

Barbara Price
