I don't know much but my father W.J. King washed windows for Miss Annie Wheeler when he was a kid. Annie is the daughter of Gen. Joe Wheeler but as far as I know, she never had a family of her own. Her father built her a home in Wheeler, AL and it is still there today. Well, as of two years ago. I took my children to see the old place. My father said that Annie had nephews that inherited the place but could not afford to restore it. They were working on an arrangement with the state of AL to open it to the public again. I remember visiting the home when I was about 10 (1967) and at that time there were a couple of care-takers watching over the place as many of Annie's things had been stolen from the home. Sorry, I don't have more for you.
