Smith Family

I'm seeking information on the following SMITH family, they lived in Wayne County in 1850. I am a descendant of Archibald SMITH...would like information on his brother Sampson and sisters, Martha, Lucy and America. Is anyone else researching this family?

General Smith and his family were living in Wayne County, Georgia in 1850. The 1850 Census shows his occupation as "wheelwright". It is pretty certain that General and Laney had more children than are listed below, these were found on the 1850 Census. Older children were perhaps living on their own by that time.

Known children of General Washington SMITH and Laney WIGGINS

1. Martha Smith b. about 1832

2. Archibald Smith b. abt. 1833 m. Mary Ann HATCHER

3. Sampson Smith b. abt. 1835 26th GA Reg. CSA

4. Lucy Smith b. abt. 1837

5. America Smith b. abt. 1838

Note: General "George" Matthew SMITH b. April 7, 1831 may have been a son of General Smith and Laney WIGGINS, but this is not yet proven. He married Sarah Warner.

Please visit my website for more information on this family.
