Seek information on a Rountree family who resided in Jesup area during the mid to late 1860's. According to a death certificate recently acquired on a William Fain Rountree b. 1864, this family resided about 2 miles north of what is now 301 south. Location near a railroad bridge. Located at one time was a Paper Plant. We have yet to find this family group in the 1850 or 1860 census of Wayne county, Ga. The head of household would be a William Rountree, with wife and perhaps one or more children. Son william Fain Rountree was the youngest child. Other sons appearred in the 1870 census of Effingham County, Georgia. They were probably railroad folks! If you have stumbled across any Rountree records/information would love to hear from you.
