I just happened to come across a book title mentioned in a forum that might be a gold mine if you can find it. It's called A Quiver Full and it's by Larry H. Jones. It just so happens that Professor Jones at least used to teach biology at Sewanee University in Sewanee, Tennessee.

This book is a genealogical work and it deals with part of the James A Harper Sr line. The book is currently out of print, but with your college connection you might be able to work out some sort of inter-collegiate loan or something.

BTW, my actual email address is:

good luck!
