I am looking for information on Mary and her family. I believe she is somehow connected to my Taylor family who lived in Screven Co., GA in the 1820's and 1830's. By the 1840 census my Taylor's were living in Crawford Co.
There is a land transaction dated Dec 21 or 31, 1849, in Screven County where a group of people sold 20 acres of land to John C Freeman. The sellers were John Taylor, William Taylor and Mary Spell of Screven County; Willis Taylor (my gg-grandfather)of Crawford County; Thomas Grantham, George Dawdy, Clary Spell and William Spell of Wain(Wayne)County. There is also another record dated March 21, 1848, where a Benjamin Taylor made a "deed of gift" to Mary Spell. It did not mention the relationship between Benjamin and Mary. I have seen where Mary Spell married Thomas West in 1850 in Screven County.
I believe it is possible that the 3 Taylor men are brothers but I don't know for sure. I am having trouble finding parents and siblings for Willis Taylor. I also believe that Benjamin Taylor born about 1759-1763 who filed a Rev War pension in Screven County in the early 1830's could be the father of John, William and Willis Taylor. His sons named John, William and Willis all affirmed in the pension app that Benjamin Taylor was their father and he served in the Rev War. Willis Taylor's daughter Nancy Taylor was born in Screven County on June 8, 1820. She is my great grandmother. I know this is not enough proof to tie these Taylor's together but it sure seems likely that they are related.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
