Notes for Daniel Ogden

Notes for Elijah (Child 1)
It is said that Elijah Ogden was a Methodist minister. It is likely he was a lay minister since there is no known record of his ordination. He owned land from the Odum area to the Altamaha River. Records indicate Elijah and Jane were among fortunate drawers of the Cherokee Land Lottery of 1832. On September 19, 1865 he deeded five acres of land to Piney Grove Methodist Church for a cemetery. In 1881 his heirs made a second deed giving four acres for burial and church purposes.

As you can see, the dates don't quite match up but I have found this information from several sources. I was hoping to find more information about this family as well. I hopes this helps in your search.
