David McClain (also spelled MacLean) married Sarah Smith in Charlton County, approximately 1879. See "Queen of the Okefenokee," -- (the biography of David McClain's sister in law Lydia Smith Stone.)

There is also a reference to Hugh McClean living in the Okefenokee Swamp. it can be found in "Settlers of the Okefenokee," by Lois B. Mays.

both these books are available at our website
