William W. Padgett, Twiggs Co., Ga 1815-1884

My wife’s great-grandfather is William W. Padgett, born in Georgia and a resident of Twiggs County, Georgia most of his life. He can be found as “W. W. Pagett” in the 1860 US Federal Census and as “W.W. Paggett” in the 1870 US Federal Census. Depending on which census record you believe, he was born either in 1815 or in 1825. He may have been married previously, but by 1858 he was married to Mary A. Bozeman, also of Twiggs County. His children with Mary included Stephen L. Padgett (b. 1858), William B. Padgett (b. 1862), Joe (or “Joel”) Padgett (b. 1864), Julia A. Padgett (b. 1867), and Lou Janice Padgett (b. 1875).

Does anyone have any clue who William’s parents were?? I am happy to share quite a bit of information regarding the Padgetts of Twiggs, Irwin and Laurens Counties.
