Beverly,
I am the ggg granddaughter of James C. Pitts. His biological parents were: Caleb and Frances Cole Pitts of South Carolina. His siblings were: William C, Stacy, Rachel, Frances, Abner, Catherine and Elizabeth Pitts. They were all born in Newberry District, South Carolina. Perhaps this is the source of confusion concerning James' background: His first wife, Keziah Johnston, is listed in several places as Sammons. Apparently, she was married previously. I had her parents' names, but I cannot not put my hands on the info just now. If you are researching my family, I would be thrilled to learn more concerning Troupe County connections. Also, I would be happy to share what I have on my family. By the way, if you will go to rootdiggers.com, you will find a copy of Caleb's will, which mentions James C as being his oldest son.
