Hi Jerry. Thanks for your reply and the information. I haven't been able to work on genealogy for a few months and missed it until now.
I originally got Alfred E. Brown's children's names from the 1880 Williamson Co., TX. Census. The family is listed there as follows:
Alfred E. W M 43 Farm hand M GA NC NC
Marinda M. W F 44 Wife M GA SC NC
Liner Jane 14 Daugh GA GA GA
Georgia A. W F 11 " GA GA GA
Elizabeth W F 8 " TX GA GA
Robert Lee W M 4 Son TX GA GA
Harritt C. W F 1 Daugh TX GA GA
From World Family Tree Project,
McCulloch Klose, and Related Families, by J. Kevin McCulloch, (MKJ1963@AOL.com), the first child was Pauline Jane, born Aug. 14, 1866, in GA. died April 11, 1886, buried Champion Cemetery, Williamson, Co., TX.
The daughter, Sarah, in Georgia must have died before 1880.
I haven't been able to find any of the Texas-bound Browns in 1870, in GA. or TX, or anywhere in between.
Marinda Allen Brown is buried in Old Roundrock Cemetery, Roundrock, TX. She died Nov. 20, 1891.
The 1900 Travis Co., TX. Census shows Alfred E. living with daughter, Georgia Brown Crooks. The 1910 Brown Co.,TX. through the 1930 Brown Co., TX. Censuses show Alfred living with his daughter, Georgia. Alfred's Civil War pension application shows that he died July 23, 1934, and Georgia Brown Crooks to be responsible for his debts.
Alfred is buried at Amity Cemetery in Comanche Co., TX. We have visited his grave there.
I have your book, about Towns Co., Ga. and have throughly enjoyed it, though I've not found the answer to my brick walls concerning the connection between Alfred E Brown and my great grandmother Eliza Brown Bittick. Still don't know who her father was, though he might have been a Joel Brown shown on the 1840 Union Co., GA. Census. Her mother, Matilda's maiden name might have been Loyd, as she had in her household in 1850 and 1860, an elderly woman named Sarah Loyd.
