Alfred E. Brown, Eliza Brown Bittick, William Howell Brown

Can anyone tell me what the connection was between Alfred E. Brown and Eliza Brown Bittick and her brother, William Howell Brown? Eliza and William Brown's mother was Matilda Brown, a widow, found in the 1850 Union Co.,GA census and the 1860 Towns Co.census. I don't have the name of their father. Alfred and his wife Marinda were also in Union-Towns Co. in 1850 and 1860. Around 1870, Alfred, (and wife Marinda) Eliza, and William all went to Texas, Williamson Co. They are all there in the 1880 census. In Alfred's Civil War Pension Application files of 1909,Eliza and William are his only two witnesses. In it, Eliza says that Alfred's wife and children lived in her mother's house while he was away in the war and that they all lived there a time afterward. My guess is that Alfred and Eliza were cousins, but I can't prove any family connection. Eliza Brown Bittick was my great grandmother. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone connected to this Brown family.
