Bernice: Thanks for the info. Daine James Caulder and Nancy McLane are most likely not William's parents since William was probably born in 1827 (he was 23 in 1850 census). James Caulder that served on a 1836 jury and Mary Caulder that also lived with another family in 1850 are possibly related but I've had no luck making a connection. Census records say that William was born in Telfair county, so I've been trying to find other Caulders from that area. William died in 1862 (the same year my grandfather was born) and apparently William's parents weren't around in 1850. A family trait, I'm afraid, since my father, Mark Lee Calder, died when I was one year old. Alex
