History Telfair County Georgia 1807-1897
P325 F233 Garrison, James is the only one in the index with any reference to VICKERY in it.
It indicates James was son of Darius and Sarah (Harrell) Garrison. Will start with Darius also same text P324/5 F232 Darius was born 1797 in Duplin Co NC and went into Effingham Co GA early on but would return to NC and later come back to Telfair Co GA to work for the Lancaster Family and later wed Sarah in 1824 Their son Levy 1842-1917 wed Lydia Hulett. As looking at other names of Darius and Sarah children they all link one way or other to the Huletts. Now to James who would wed Nancy Jane Rawlins his first cousin and both died in their early 40s after Civil War (James became ill while in CSA service per text)... Leaving five children:
1) John 1868-1886 died typhoid fever before parents..
2) J Mark about 1870-1938 married Emma Cravey
3) Joseph T about 1872-1928 had brief marriage and this wife not named but second wife named as Sally Towns.
4) Levi 1877-1953 married Caroline Cravey.
5) Andrew 1880-1959 married Frances Williams.
6) Sally (no dates in text) married George VICKERY.
James wife Nancy died in 1888 and remaining five children came under care of local folks with Sally coming under the care of Florida Rawlings Quinn their Aunt......
Cemetery Blockhouse Babtist Church (P154-156 T88) shows:
Mollie Vickery b 3-6-1887 / d 3-26-1904 and it also list a number of the Garrison as well as Hulett lines here.
Cemetery Sand Hill or Bethlehem Methodists Church (P165-170 T96) shows: James buried here with Nancy.... Also indcates Nancy the daughter of Joseph Thomas Rawlins and Katherine Harrell... Also found a Nellie Vickory born Telfair 11-18-1884 died 8-27-1947 here suppose to be daughtery of John Vickory and Betty Bohannon.. Nellie was wife of George Thomas Phillips born Sanford NC 10-27-1876 died 3-23-1962 and he also rest here.
NOTE: all information from source noted about at open of message...
Note name shows as Vickery or Vickory here and is probably the same folks... Also might want to look at odd spell as Vickers as this name comes up in Telfair among this family jungle.... about same time frame and areas....
Will do some more looking for a Rachel Vickery among other files and sources have and see what might have on here. As the first name Rachel comes in with several of these family lines noted here in this time frame...
