I believe one of them was Mary Ann Smith, who was the first wife of William Thomas Morgan. They were my greatx3 grandparents. the information I ahve, which I ahve not verified, is that Mary Ann was born about 1834 in Tattnall County. She married Dr. William Thomas Morgan on February 10, 1853, also in Tattnall County. I just posted a message on this forum that is in error, in that I said they were married in Effingham County. William Thomas Morgan was born June 1, 1828 in Effingham and died June 1, 1890. They had two sons, Herschel M. Morgan, born January 3, 1854 in Effingham County, and Melville A. Morgan, born about 1859. As far as I know, Mary Ann was the second of 13 children of Clarissa Brewton and Simon Peter Smith. Somewhere in my notes there is information that Mary Ann was examined to determine insanity/competence. In any case, William T. Morgan received guardianship of his sons, Herschel and Melville in Effingham County on June 27, 1873 and reference was made to Mary being deceased. If you're interested, I have Mary Ann Smith and W.T. Morgan's descendents down to present. He married again after he death and produced an entire new family in Tattnall County with his second wife, Clarissa Brewton.
