In the early 1800's two Carpenter men came down out of NC and settled in Tattnal Co., GA. They each married Smith girls, settled down and raised families. I believe they, Josiah, and Hamilton Corneluis Carpenter were brothers to my ancestor. (My ancestor John Carpenter is listed below Josiah and Hamilton Carpenter)

JOSIAH CARPENTER m. ELIZABETH SMITH November 19, 1816 Tattnal Co., AL [now Toombs Co., GA, both born NC.
Children:
SARAH; REBECCA; MARY; ELIZABETH; GEORGEANNE; JANE; CORNELIUS.

HAMILTON CORNELIUS CARPENTER m. SARAH SMITH February 5, 1822 in Tattnal Co., GA. Both born NC.
Children:
MATILDA; JOHN; CORNELIUS.

JOHN CARPENTER m. MARY SMITH b. NC in 1805.
Children:
HAMLITON; NANCY; ELEAZER; SARAH; BICAL; DEBORAH; GEORGE; JAMES; & JOHN

If anyone has any information on any of these families please contact me ar WyleneL@aol.com.
