Hi John, My husband's great grandmother was Mary E. Flemming who married William R. Kellum 1873, Talbot Co., GA. Mary's father was a Robert Flemming and mother's name unknown. Sisters were Elizabeth and Amanda. After Robert's wife died he left the girls with neighbors and moved to Texas. The Kellum's came from Craven Co., NC, to Columbia & Warren Co., GA, after 1800, and settled in Talbot in 1830. William's father, George Kellum married Missouri Gordy there in 1838 and his grandfather, Archibald Kellum married Martha Wynn in Warren Co., GA in 1815. / / / Below are notes I have gathered on some Flemmings in hopes that I can make a conection. In a letter about the Indians killing whites from Talbotton May 23 1836, these men signed their names: Charles R. Wynn - (JP) A. G. Matthews Wellington Fleming Wm. Fleming And many others .... Could he have been one of these Flemings: A. S. P. Bowles m. Robert A. Fleming in Harris Co., GA 1/11/1834 ??? Robert Fleming m. Prudence B. Martin, 24 Jan 1842 in Lincoln Co.,GA Married in Coweta Co. GA 7 July at house of Joshua Elders, by A. Hardy, J. P. Flemming to Miss Martha H. Marry? or Mabry all of that Co. Could he have been the Rev. Robert Fleming in Talbot Co., GA? Flemings of Ireland descend from Archiblad Fleming, who crossed from England to Ireland in 1173. They were Scotish-Irish and landed in Philadelpia, some going to VA. Robert Fleming, Sr. was with one of the continental troops from GA. His son Robert came to Lincoln Co., GA, near the Columbia line. After a while he move to Double Branches settlement in Lincoln. He married Thruza Elizabeth Farrar. Their children were: Thomas W., Absalom, Porter (m. Catherine Morgan), Frank, John, Robert and James; Mary (m. Isaac Morgan), and Elizabeth who died young. / / / Please drop me an e-mail. I'm leaving tomorrow and be back Sunday afternoon. Anita Notify Administrator about this message?
