An item in the Southern Christian Advocate, early newspaper in Georgia, refers to my grgrgrandfather Henry Mims b. 1797 in Jones Co Ga, d. June 16, 1864.in Marion Co Texas: The article reads "Died near Auburn, Macon County, Alabama, 18 August 1841, Mrs. A. A. Duke, wife of Hamilton Duke & dau. of Col. H. Mims, formerly of Talbot County, Georgia, Sep. 17, 1841".
I am trying to locate (1) the family of Hamilton Duke. I know Hamilton was in Talbotton at the same time as Henry Mims (1830-1838) and was hoping someone might have info on Hamilton’s family, and (2) Henry married Sarah Wimberly. I know she and Henry were close to John Wimberly and his son Lewis D Wimberly, I just cannot make the connection. Thanks for your help…...Pat Tolliver.
