John Walker Johnston was born September 2nd, 1842 in TALBOT County, GA. He died January 10th, RUSSELL County, AL. He married Sara Jane DAVIS on February 8th, 1866 in RUSSELL County,AL. Sara Jane Davis was a daughter of Rev. Col.John F. DAVIS, who was b. in NC and died in AL, and Mariah Anne INGRAM b. in NC and d. in AL.
TALBOT Co., GA Records show:
1.)A.G. Perryman is hereby authorized to take out a grant for Lot No.? in the ? of DOOLY County, for the heirs of John JOHNSTON, Dec'd. Test: ChH McCall, J.P. and Alex JOHNSTON.
Deeds: June 10,1843, while living in Putnam Co., GA John Johnston drew a lot of land in DOOLY County, GA.
2.) Talbot Co., GA School Reords list: 1855 Red Bone District lists: Pg.#54; Martha Johnston, Charles Johnston. Pg.# 62 lists: Margaret Johnston, Stephen Johnston, E Johnston. 1858 lists: John Johnston, Wm. Francis Johnston, Pierce Johnston.
John Walker Johnston served in the CSA in McIntoshes Battalion: Artillery Regimet #123, Co. 'M' GA under Captain HARDING.
3.) John Walker Johnston married Sara Jane DAVIS daughter of Col. John F. Davis and Mariah Anne INGRAM. Both were born in NC and died in Hatchechubbee, Russell Co., AL.
Siblings of Sara Jane were B. Clarenda Davis, Malaaci Davis, Mary E. Davis, and Alexander Davis.
