I am looking for any info on a James J. BRADLEY, aka "Jim". He and Mary "Polly" BRAY were married 27 Nov 1845 in Georgia, and they lived the rest of their life in Sumter County, GA. He was born Oct 1821 and died Mar 1862. All this information was from my MIL’s Bradley Family Bible that was originally Mary BRAY’S and then went to Lucinda Melissa HARDIN BRADLEY (she married their son Berry Robert BRADLEY, Jan 1880). I am trying to find out who James' father was, siblings, and why he died so young. If he served in the Civil War, there are a million J. Bradley’s, but none of them fit the dates. Also, Mary BRAY was never listed on a widow’s pension roll. I have some evidence that leads me to think his father's name was BRYANT (sometimes spelled BRIANT) BRADLEY-the one who married Elizabeth SPARROW in Pulaski County, GA. Bryant was born in NC and Elizabeth was born in GA, according to the 1850 Bibb County, GA Census. Both Bryant and Elizabeth were born abt 1897, and they were married in Pulaski, GA, 4 Apr 1816. But I don't have any sources that show who their children were-if James was even his child-a death date for Bryant, or where in NC Bryant was born. The only source I’ve found on James BRADLEY was an 1850 Sumter Co, GA census. I also found land transactions involving Bryant and James in Sumter County, GA around 1851, on microfilm at the Lake Blackshear Library in Americus, GA. I have to go to the courthouse to get a copy of those and hopefully they will give me some little detail I can move forward with! Also, James and Mary’s first child was named WILLIAM BRYANT BRADLEY. If anyone has info on either James or Bryant BRADLEY, I would be so grateful if you could share with me! Thanks for reading this very long post!
