I am not sure if this is the same cemetery but Jack Cox and I went to a similar cemetery. The only marker we found is for Lizzie Gwynes 30 May 1885 - 21 Dec 1904. The directions are from Jack Cox's "to be published" book on Sumter County, GA cemeteries. In Andersonville go on Freeman Street to railroad at Mulcoa Co gate (this is a back gate for trucks). Turn right and go down to near the fork in railroad and look to right and will see chain-link fence which encloses the cemetery. Obituary in Americus Times-Recorder dated Dec 23 1904 gives obituary of Lizzie Gwynes and states she was buried in Andersonville. In the History of Sumter Co, by Cox page 340 the author of Dykes family states that Lewis Easterlin "thinks that Benjamin Dykes was buried in an unmarked grave in a family cemetery near the railroad, south of Andersonville. This could be the same cemetery. Hardin Grant said he had been told that a Mary Tom Williams was buried in this cemetery. There are several unmarked graves in this cemetery. The road leading to this cemetery is so eroded that you can't drive there so going down the railroad is the easiest way. Hope this helps Bill Notify Administrator about this message?
