Thanks! Actually, there is no Wilkes County in Maryland. John Massey West was the son of John West, Sr., who we believe was from VA originally, but lived in NC for a time before moving his family to St. Paul Parish, GA. John Massey West spent much of his life in modern day Wilkes, Richmond, Columbia, and McDuffie Counties, where he passed away. His birth year may have actually been in 1760. It's all very tough to figure out, thus the reason I contacted you.
