Alexander Robinson or Robertson 1840's Stewart County, Georgia

There were an Alexander Robertson/Robinson and a John Robertson/Robinson in Stewart County, GA, and Barbour County, AL, in the 1840's. Alexander owned a lot of property in that area--also in Russell County, AL. Alexander is listed as Robinson in the 1850 Stewart Co., GA, census, but the names seem to have been used interchangeably. He was listed as having been born in South Carolina.

My great-great-grandmother was Mary Ann E. Robertson, who married Robert A. Langford (my great-great-grandfather)in Stewart Co., GA, in 1854. He died in the Civil War in 1862, and she remarried before 1870 (probably around 1865 or so) to Nathaniel Burton.

I am trying to identify for certain Mary's parents. I believe Alexander may have been her father, based on his being in the same area and being from South Carolina, where she identified her parents as being born, though she was born in Georgia. I am also trying to determine if he is related to John Robertson who died around 1846 and had property in his estate in Barbour Co., AL. John's wife was Frances, and one of his daughters Sarah Ann Unity Robertson married Jeremiah E. Langford (who may have been my gggf's brother) in Stewart Co., GA, in 1844.

I would be grateful for any information on this family.

Please feel free to email me directly also. Thank you for anything you can provide.
