Im not sure if it was called black mountain,
but my Great Grandfather lived in Stephens County and my Grandfather always said that he was burried on a Mountain there in an unmarked grave. My Great Grabdfather's name was Bob Simmons(probally Robert)he was married to Susie Whitfield( it is believed was from S.C.) she later married a Ballew in South Carolina.Susie is burried in Toccoa, she was born 5/2/1886 but her tombstone says1878.She died 9/1970(last know residence was Baldwin,Banks county)My Grandfather(James M.Simmons)said that after Bob Simmons(or Robert)died that Susie sold the land to the State or Gov't.
Do you know if he could have been talking about"Black Mountain"and do you know of or have you ever heard anything about a Bob or Robert Simmons that lived in that area?
Hope you can help,Denise Aguilera
