My engagement went in the paper in July,a probably within two weeks of my marriage on August 7, 1949..can't remember if my marriage announcement was put if the paper, if it is in the Paper it would have been in the nwxt two weeks...However I remember my announcment for my wedding is in the paper,
I met and married a young man that was a bonus baby of the Atlanta Crackers owner Earl Mann... My husband name Floyd (Dab Laney, he was sent to Griffin in May of 1949,to play baseball for the Griffin Pimentoes and was a catcher third baseman.. I was selected to be Spalding High School Head Majoret for the year 49/50..Young Laney came up town to see a parade on Memorial day I think, he was standing on the corner of Hill street, in front of the old Lane Drug Co. where most of the players came to eat lunch most days, he saw me ask my name and where to find me, we were married on August 7 1949 at my parents home in Experiment, after the season was over we came back to his home state of North Carolina, and have lived here since 1949, Dab Laney passsed away in October 24,2008.
If you have time would you please look up my engage and wedding if It is in the paper, it woud mean so much to me
