This past evening my last living aunt died, about five
hours ago. Sitting here in my sorrow I have been trying
to find out anything I could about her family, which I
have tried to do before with little success.

Her name was Lorrell Collins Pope. I believe she was the
daughter of a William Pope, but I am not sure. She was
married to my last living uncle, Joseph Hoyt Glanton. They
live in north west Spalding County, close to the Henry
County line in an area known as West Sunnyside.

This evening I found a state site from which I downloaded
a death certificate image for a child who had lived only
nine months. The child's name was Joseph Carlton Pope. His
father was listed as W. S. Pope. His mother's given name
was not listed, but her surname was listed as Ford. I
believe their address was listed as 307 W. Tensley Street,
Griffin, Georgia. It may have been E. Tensley. Parts of
the document were not very clear. Joseph Carlton Pope died
August 28th, 1926.

While I am pretty sure this is the family you are looking
for, I am not sure it is the family of my aunt. She was
born in the mid-1920s and her father was 'carousing', her
parents were separated, and she was raised by others in
the family. I belive she had a sister named Velma, but I
am not sure.

I notice that when you refer to Lizzie being married to a
Cooper, there is a question mark. Maybe it was a Collins?
The fact that my aunt's parents were living apart at the
same time your Lizzie's marriage was on the on the rocks
may fit in together? I can't find my aunt on the 1930
census living with any Popes in Spalding or Henry County.
Maybe she was living with one of those Fords?

If you know anything about my aunt's family, please let
me know. I will also send you a copy of this death
certificate image, if you want it.
