Sept 25, 1896 The old adage was exemplified fully last Sat. in the matter of Arthur Stanford, an operative at one of the cotton mills. Stanford had long loved Miss Daisy Kilgore and their courtship culminated on last Sat. in a runaway marriage. The stern and unrelenting parent, Kilgore, senior, attempted to take his daughter from a buggy in which the newly made husband was carrying her to their future home. The husband objected and backed his objection with a pistol..Kilgore wrestled it from Stanford's hand...At this stage the groom's father, old man Stanford, struck Kilgore on the had with a stick. And the happy couple departed.... Notify Administrator about this message?
