Crawfords from Griffin, Spalding Co., GA
Posted by: J Crawford (ID *****3036) Date: April 05, 2008 at 07:44:07

My grandfather lives in Atlanta, GA. My grandmother and my dad moved to California when my dad was three, so I have never met my grandfather. I am trying to trace back my Crawford name to find out when our branch came to the USA, and of course more if possible.

I've been able to accurately trace back to my g-g-grandfather, which puts me in 1884. The family lived in Griffin, Spalding Co., GA for most of the time. A few members of the family worked as weavers for Griffin Mfg Co., quite possibly Kincaid Mfg Co.; now known as Dundee Mills/Springs Industries. Occasionally I have found them living in Alabama. Here's the male lineage, hope someone can help. I have more information if it will help.

Abt 1852- ?: Allen J. Crawford (unconfirmed) m:Lizzie
1884 - 1963: Arthur Alexander Crawford m:Maggie
1907 - 1980: Walter Lawrence Crawford m:Mary Frances Moore
1934 - Present: Living Crawford
1961 - Present: Living Crawford
1979 - Present: J Crawford (me)

Thanks!
Josh Crawford
