DNA evidence proves that there are at least two separate Maner families that have no connection. I have a wealth of info on the Maner family of Samuel Maner for I am descended from Samuel's brother Capt. William Maner (1754-1819. William lived in SC.) I can find no Rachel Maner that married a Lee. However, Capt. William and Samuel had an uncle named John. By 1754 he had married Mary Ann ____ and in 1758 he moved to GA and a year later petitioned the Governer's Council for 400 acres of land on the Savannah River in Halifax District (now Screven county) three miles above Stony Bluff and 50 miles from Stephens Creek. He was awarded 300 acres on 06 Nov. 1764 ( Folks Huxford, Ed. The GA Genealogical Magazine, Issue No 30, Oct. 1968. p.218.) In his petition he stated he had a wife, four children and a Negro. The two known children were Anne Mary b. about 1757 adn John Jr. WE think John Jr. married a Stafford. You may be connected to this John Maner, if you are connected to Samuel and Capt. Willliam At all. Good luck. Mary Maner Tallent tallentm@earthlink.net Notify Administrator about this message?
