I recently came across some tantalizing information here in Maryland about a 'Dr. Alexander H. Bayley, of Cambridge Maryland." I wonder if this might be our Alexander?
Here is what I found:
Dr. Alexander H. Bayley, of Cambridge MD
From Transactions of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland, Volumes 92-93.
Cambridge, MD , Nov. 11, 1890
The Semi-Annual Covention for 1890 of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty was called to order this day by the President Dr. T. A. Ashby…Dr. A.H. Bayley, of Cambridge, delivered the following:
“Mr. President and Gentlemen of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty: It is with rare pleasure that I greet you and extend a warm, heartfelt welcome to our beautifully embowered little city. And feel most deeply the compliment you have conferred upon us in selecting this place for the meeting of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty, being the first ever held on the Eastern Shore since its organization of nearly 100 years ago, and will be ever born in pleasing rememberance and mark an epoch in the history of our city.
I feel and believe that the medical profession of our city and county will derive much benefit and consequently the community at large, from the learning and experience of this representation from the old time honored Medical and Chirurgical Faculty, and may it ever flourish in strength and usefulness a proud monument to its learned and noble founders whose memories will not fade away.”
From the Medical Standard, Vol 11, Jan-June 1892:
Dr. A.H. Bayley of Cambridge died March 14 (1892), at the age of 78.
