I am trying to find information that will link Roger McKinney (b. 1808 Screven Co, GA - d. 12/14/1890 Lafayette Co. FL) to his family in Screven Co. GA. I suspect that he may have been a son of Robert Dillon McKinney, who was a son of Timothy McKinney. Robert D. McKinney is on the 1830 census in Screven Co., GA with a male living in the home that would be the right age to be my Roger.

It was passed down that Roger was born in Screven Co. and ran a stagecoach between Savannah and Charleston at one time. The earliest records we have on him is a land purchase in 1840 in Madison Co., FL from a William McKinney. We do not know his relationship to the William but suspect he may have been Roger's brother. Roger enlisted in the Florida War (Indian War) March 1841 & discharged 33 days later. He married married Martha Rutherford in May 1841 in Madison Co, FL. He is buried at Cook's Hammock, FL cemetery in Lafayette Co, FL where he died Dec. 14, 1890.

Any help is so very much appreciated as this is a major brick wall for our famiy.
