Joyner Bolton Brinson Cemetary on Lexie Brinson Br

Can you identify the following where it maybe located or any additional information concerning any of the families

Take Millen Highway to cross roads(2 miles from Bay Branch). Turn left and go up hill. Turn top right, take a dirt road to curve on left. There will be some barns on left which mark the old Brinson home site. Leave car and walk around a fence that is perpendicular to road. You will see a few tall weeds that mark the site of this cemetery very near. This fence divides Edward Brinson's land from his cousin, Mrs Lexie Brinson Brown. The cemetery is on Mrs. Lexie Brinson Brown's land.

Edward Brinson remembers when the cemetery was one fourth acre large. His granfather gave the land. There is a large oak tree on the home site and he said as a child he heard his family say that Mr. Hamp Arnette preached a funeral service for a Joyner there under the oak tree in 1890.

Mrs Brown told us that when she was a child a school house and the first Bay Branch Church were near the cemetery and
oak tree.

The cemetery has been plowed over and is gone. We found a large double tombstone under about six inches of dirt which we were able to uncover and stand up so that we could identify it. All the other tombstones are broken and parts plowed under.

Thank you
Dot Smith
