Howdy folks, I need to prove or disprove a theory in my head, and I sorely need some help. Does anyone have the death index for Augusta (RICHMOND CO), GA about 1942-1945? Here's why: My great-grandmother, Fannie Belle Ransdell Taylor Jones, died about 1942-44. My father said she died and was buried in Ballard Co, KY, but not a shred of her exists in the KY death index. Dated in 1942, there exists a letter written from Audrey Taylor White to her brother, Jesse W. Taylor (my grandfather). In it she tells him of their mother's (Fannie's)terminal illness of cancer. Fannie was staying with Audrey at this time, and both the heading and the postmark indicate that Fannie was in Augusta, GA, where Audrey and her husband, Iulus, were living on account of Iulus' position with the railroad. So you see, I have justifiable doubt Fannie died in Ballard co; she may very well be buried in Ballard Co somewhere, but I need to know WHERE she died first, either GA or KY. It's possible she died in Augusta, and was returned to her native Ballard County due to the good offices of her son-in-law Iulus. My father said that his father (Jesse W.)caught the train before the war's end back to KY through his connections with the Illinois Central--- possibly verifying my movement theory. Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!! This is driving me NUTS!!! C. Taylor
