Andrew Hawk of Augusta Ga. ca1790

I am a descendant of the Hawk line of Walton County, Georgia. Recently I came across the 1856 diary of Seaborn J. Hawk of Jasper Co., and in it is a statement which begins:

"My Father Andrew Hawk, grand father the same name, of Augusta Ga, the first setling of Augusta ...
... fathers mother was Christena Indelidga [?] ..."

Can anyone point me toward resources that list early settlers of Augusta, or the Richmond County area? I understand Augusta was established around 1737 by Oglethorpe as a trading center with native tribes, and was officially incorporated as a town in the 1890's.

Many thanks.
