The following information taken from: History of Walker County (Alabama), c1937, J.M. Dombhart, p.136. "James BLACKSTON, who lived at Pocahontas (Walker Co), was born February 27, 1828, at Augusta, Ga. In April, 1862, at Kansas, Walker Co., he enlisted in Company H, Forty-third Alabama Infantry, under Capt. Lawrence, and served throughtout the war. He surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Va., on April 9, 1865. - (Cenus of Alabama Confederate Soldiers-1907)."
