I also have a Watkins in my family tree from that era. Sophia Watkins, born 1809 in SC or in GA, died 1885. Mother was reportedly a Rosenthal, although I have seen no Rosenthals in that area at all. She married James Barnett Johnson of Barnwell, SC. and they lived in Augusta, GA for the rest of their lives. Any of this sound familiar??
