I don't have Hugh listed as a s/o Christopher and Frances. These are the children that I have of this couple:
1. William G. b 5 May 1739 Sussex Co, VA;died 23 Jan 1782 at that time it was called the Ninety-Six District, SC; now Spartanburg Co, SC m Amey Shands [his cousin] on 7 Feb 1770 [This is our line.]
2. Shands b ca 1743 Sussex Co, VA died before 9 Nov 1835 possibly in Giles Co, TN or Hickman Co, TN? m 1st Martha Thomas [widow of Robert Thomas 1753-1781]; m 2nd Elizabeth ?
3.David, SR b 30 Jun 1757 Sussex Co, VA; d 27 Jun 1842 Spartanburg Co, SC; m 1st Tabitha Mitchell on 7 Aug 1783; m 2nd Frances Clark Lewis, widow of John Lewis after 1818
4. John b 1742-1751 Sussex Co, VA; died 1823 Spartanburg Co, SC; m Winifred Bobbitt
5. Thomas b 1756 Sussex Co, VA [know nothing more of him]

The above five sons of Christopher served in the Rev War under Col Benjamin Roebuck. Regiment called "Spartan Rangers"......while residents of Spartanburg Co, SC......
The above 5 were in Bute Co, NC by 1864

Christopher's parents might be Hugh Goligtly and Jane Lee but I have no documented proof of this......Frances' parents were William Shands and Nazareth Robards both died Sussex Co, VA
Helen
