I am looking for information on my great-grandmother, Emily Jones Fincannon. My great-grandfather’s name was Burton Fincannon, he was born in Rabun County on August 31, 1860 and was the son of George and Susannah Stonecypher Fincannon. (I have extensive information about the Fincannon and Stonecypher families, as a book has been published)
Burton’s first wife was Josie Wilbanks. They were married on June 12, 1882 in Rabun County, GA. They had one child named Laura. Josie died sometime between 1882 and 1884. I would like to know Josie’s birth and death date and if she is buried in Rabun County.
On May 30, 1884 Burton remarried to Emily Jones. I do not know if they were married in Rabun County. Emily was born in 1838. I would like to know Emily’s birth date. Unfortunately there was not a death certificate in Tennessee that would have included her date of birth and the names of her parents.
Burton and Emily soon after marrying moved to Todd County, KY and then to Tennessee, outside of Nashville whee they both died.
My grandmother never knew much about her mother’s people. But she said that Emily Jones was from Atlanta. I know she was born in 1863.
Any information you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
