Thomas Keeling Smith and early days of Eatonton

Am struggling to find out any information about his life in (or near) Eatonton. He lived in Putnam County from 1803-1827 (moved from South Carolina in 1803; died 1827), was in the "mercantile business" according to one account. But I can't find the location of his property - awarded in the GA Land Lottery of 1805 - or anything about Eatonton during those times.

I would appreciate any pointers or places to look or information that you might have about him or about early days of Putnam County life.

Thanks.....
