If you are a Warren male...or have a male Warren in the family...and you are now facing a wall in your research, please consider doing the Y-DNA test. It is the best tool available to document your paper trail as well as match you up with your "true" Warren family. The test consists of using a swab to scrap the inside of the checks.
I am a descendent of Reuben Warren b abt 1790 in GA; d after 1860 in Laurens Co, GA. My Warren uncle did the Y-DNA test and the results put Reuben Warren in the Poynton Warren group.
The DNA testing has separated the Warrens who have done the DNA testing into several different groups (Haplogroups) based on the DNA results. DNA testing has in many instances proven that family lineages were incorrectly stated in many of the earlier books written by researchers. And, some of the more recent researchers learned that they had inadvertently connected one of their ancestors to the wrong parents in the wrong state or county.
This link will provide you with more information regarding the DNA testing and the Warren surname project at familytreedna.com.
I am not connected in any way with any site that offers DNA testing. Like you, I am a family researcher, but Iím a researcher who is very thankful to my uncle who took the test. It not only verified my research, it also gave me the direction I needed to further research my family.
