In Reply to: John & Sophia Linch or John & Mary Barnett by William Barnett of 798

To the best of my knowledge "John" Jacquelin Lynch/Linch married to Sophia in about 1815 in Virginia. John was born about 1791 in Virginia and died about 1876 in Putnam Co., GA. John was the son of William John Lynch/Linch and Eliza Grief (both born about 1750 in Brunswick Co., VA) John's siblings were Lewis Henry, Jarratt(various spellings), Grief Austin and Mary H. Below is where John changed his name, THE FOLLOWING SWORN STATEMENT WAS OFFERED AS PROOF OF THE CHANGE IN NAME:
"GEORGIA, PUTNAM COUNTY, PERSONALLY APPEARED BEFORE ME LEWIS H. LYNCH, WHO BEING DULY SWORN DEPOSES AND SAYS THAT HE IS THE OLDER BROTHER OF JACQUELIN LINCH, ALIAS JOHN LYNCH, AND THAT THE FACTS SET FORTH IN THE ACCOMPANYING DECLARATION AS REGARDS THE NAME OF HIS SAID BROTHER HE KNOWS TO BE TRUE".
SIGNED LEWIS H. LINCH
SWORN TO AND SUBSCRIBED BEFORE ME THIS DAY AND YEAR ABOVE WRITTEN.
Also, Sophia application for a pension: ON NOVEMBER 24, 1876, SOPHIA LINCH, AGE 60, OF ?, GEORGIA, WIDOW OF JACQUELIN LINCH FILED AN APPLICATION FOR A WIDOWS PENSION. WITH IT WAS SUBMITTED A COPY OF HER MARRIAGE RECORD TO JACQUELIN LYNCH FROM THE ORDINARY'S OFFICE IN HANCOCK COUNTY, GA.IT SHOWED THAT THEY WERE MARRIED BY URBAN COOPER, M.G. ON JAN. 16, 1812. WILKINS LINCH, AGE 56, SIGNED A STATEMENT THAT HE WAS A NEPHEW OF JACQUELIN LINCH AND THAT HR HAD KNOWN J. AND S. LINCH AS LONG AS HE HAD KNOWN ANYONE.
