I would like contact with anyone connected to my Putnam or Dooly County lines. John was a child of Susanna WALKER Johnston, thus his middle name. John Walker Johnston was born September 02, at Centerville, TALBOT County, GA. He died on January 10, 1925 in RUSSELL County, AL.
Here is information I have about his family:
1.) Talbot Co., GA: 'A.G. Perryman is hereby authorized to take out a grant for Lot No.? in the ? of Dooly Co., for the heirs of John Johnston, Dec'd. Test: ChH McCall, JP and Alex Johnston.
2.)A deed shows that on June 10, 1843 while living in Talbot County, GA John drew a lot of land in DOOLY County, GA.
3.) Talbot Co., GA School Records list: 1855 Red Bone District lists: (pg.# 54) Martha Johnston; Charles Johnston(pg.# 62) Margaret Johnston; Stephen Johnston; E. Johnston.
1858 lists: John Johnston; Wm. Francis Johnston, Pierce Johnston. John Walker Johnston died in Russell Co., AL and is buried there at Hatchechubbee.
4.) John Walker Johnston served in McIntoshes Battalian, Artillery Regiment #123, Co. 'M' GA under Captain HARDING.
5.) John Walker Johnston married Sara Jane DAVIS on February 8, 1866 in Russell Co., AL.
Sara Jane was a descendant of (Rev. War) Col. John F. DAVIS and Mariah Anne INGRAM.
There are records of: a) pension drawn by John W. Johnston: b.) pension drawn by Sara Jane DAVIS Johnston.
Please contact me if any of these lines hold importance to you, or if you would like to share or exchange information. I have quite a lot on the INGRAM line as well as Johnston.
