Van Wert Confederate Memorial Service
Sunday
7 May 2006
3:00 pm
Everyone is welcome
The Sons of Confederate Veterans will be honoring,
Albert Anderson
with a memorial service.
Albert Anderson, a young man of only 16 years, from Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee, enlisted 21 April 1864 into Company D. Ballentine’s Reg’t, 2nd Partisan Rangers, Mississippi Cavalry. Albert was killed 10 October, 1864 here in Van Wert, Georgia. Albert’s grave has been located in the old cemetery and a new military marker is being placed to honor him. Albert was in the service for only five months and his service record shows that he was never paid for his service.
Directions to cemetery:
Take Piedmont Ave. South, out of Rockmart, Georgia.
At the Tri-City Pawn Shop on the right, turnoff on Sycamore Street.
Turn right at the next street, Garner Street. The Church and cemetery are straight ahead one block..
