Michael,

If anyone is familiar with the area around Rockmart, Georgia..there is a community just to the east of Rockmart called Van Wert, GA. There is the Van Wert Baptist/Methodist Church and cemetery that is in a horrible state of disrepair.

No where in my posting did I mention a family by name of Wert or Van Wert. I have found that many of my families that were living in that area per the 1850 and 1870 census can not be found on the 1860 census. Recently, I was told by another researcher that in a few instances, communities that bordered 2 counties often got left off the census for those areas. Due to each county assuming that the other county census taker recorded that area for information.

Per Bible records that were found concerning the old Van Wert Baptist/Methodist church had references to some of my families. For instance the Gentrys and Carnes families..Also another family that I have not been able to find on the 1860 census is the family of Adolphus White.
This family was there on both 1850 and 1870 census, but not anywhere on the 1860 census.

Nancy
